Orang Pendek

A small, upright ape of Sumatra that some researchers think may be a real undiscovered primate.

Orang pendek means "short person" in Indonesian. It is described as a powerfully built ape, about the height of a child, that walks on two legs. Local villagers, Dutch colonists and modern researchers have all reported it.

Unlike many cryptids, the Orang Pendek is taken seriously by some primatologists, because Sumatra's forests are vast and still produce new species.

What witnesses report
