In UFO lore, reptilians are tall, scaly, reptile-like humanoids with slit-pupil eyes, described in a minority of abduction accounts. One of the earliest came from Ashland, Nebraska patrolman Herbert Schirmer, who under hypnosis recalled being taken aboard a craft in 1967 by beings with a slightly reptilian look and a winged-serpent emblem.
From the 1990s the idea was spun into a conspiracy theory claiming shape-shifting reptilians secretly rule the world. Researchers have traced it to pulp fiction of the 1920s, and note it often recycles old antisemitic tropes. This page is about encounter reports only.
