In March 1972 two Loveland, Ohio police officers separately reported a frog- or lizard-like creature about 4 feet tall crossing the road near the Little Miami River. One officer later said it was probably an iguana that had escaped from a home.
The Frogman has become a beloved local legend, with a musical and an annual festival.
