Igopogo, named as a play on BC's Ogopogo, is said to live in Lake Simcoe north of Toronto. Most witnesses describe a grey, seal-like animal with a dog- or horse-like face, a neck like a stovepipe and dorsal fins, rather than a long-necked dinosaur.
Settler David Soules is credited with the first report in 1823. In 1952 several people, including Georgina Island First Nation chief Wellington Charles, said they saw it. A sonar operator recorded a large target in 1983, and a 1991 video showed a large seal-like animal. Barrie has a sea serpent sculpture on its waterfront.
Some suggest seals or otters, though neither normally lives in the lake.
