Fouke Monster

Also called Boggy Creek Monster, Southern Sasquatch, Jonesville Monster

The hairy creature of Boggy Creek, Arkansas, made famous by a 1972 drive-in hit.

In May 1971 the Ford family reported that a large, hairy creature reached through a window of their rented house near Fouke and later attacked Bobby Ford on the porch. Three-toed tracks were found in a nearby field.

The story inspired Charles B. Pierce's docudrama The Legend of Boggy Creek (1972), one of the most successful independent films of its decade. Fouke still has a monster mart and draws curious visitors every year.
