House Intelligence hearing on Unidentified Aerial Phenomena

May 17, 2022 · House Intelligence Subcommittee on Counterterrorism, Counterintelligence and Counterproliferation

The first open congressional hearing on UFOs in more than 50 years. Two senior Pentagon officials showed Navy footage and admitted some of it had no explanation.

Ronald Moultrie, the Under Secretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security, and Scott Bray, the Deputy Director of Naval Intelligence, testified in public before going into a closed session.

Bray said the UAP Task Force database had grown to about 400 reports since the 2021 preliminary report, partly because pilots felt less stigma about reporting. He played two short clips. One showed a reflective sphere flashing past a Navy cockpit. Asked by Rep. Adam Schiff what it was, Bray said he could not say.

He also told the committee the task force had no material from any UAP and nothing that pointed to a non-terrestrial origin. Months later the Pentagon replaced the task force with the office that became AARO.

I do not have an explanation for what this specific object is.
