Brazil's Air Force investigated the lights over Colares in 1977 and 1978 (Operação Prato) and scrambled jets on the "official night of UFOs" in May 1986, when radar tracked objects over São Paulo and Rio.
Since 2008 the Air Force has sent its UFO records to the National Archives, where the Objeto Voador Não Identificado fund holds hundreds of reports from 1952 to 2016. The Air Force says it now only receives and catalogues reports.
Our data: The fund is public but no reuse licence for bulk data is published, so we link to it.
