The Yowie is Australia's answer to Bigfoot: a tall, hairy, upright creature reported from the eastern bush. Aboriginal groups across the region tell of hairy men of the hills, and 19th-century colonial newspapers carried accounts of "yahoos" seen by stockmen and timber-getters.
Modern reports come from the Blue Mountains west of Sydney, the Springbrook and Lamington areas of south-east Queensland, and the forests along the Great Dividing Range.
