Nordics are human-looking beings reported in UFO contact stories: tall, often 6 to 7 feet, with long fair hair, pale skin and light eyes. They are usually described as calm and kind, speaking telepathically and warning people about nuclear weapons or the health of the planet.
George Adamski said he met a long-haired visitor named Orthon near Desert Center, California in 1952, who told him he came from Venus. Other 1950s contactees reported similar 'space brothers', and from 1975 the Swiss farmer Billy Meier claimed contact with beings from the Pleiades.
Historians point to the 1951 film The Day the Earth Stood Still as one inspiration. From the 1960s on, greys largely replaced Nordics in encounter reports.
