Cadborosaurus

Also called Caddy, Hiyitl'iik, Sea serpent of BC

A horse-headed sea serpent reported off the coast of British Columbia.

Coastal First Nations art shows long, serpent-like sea creatures, and settlers around Victoria reported one often enough that a newspaper editor named it Cadborosaurus in 1933, after Cadboro Bay.

In 1937 whalers at Naden Harbour, Haida Gwaii, photographed a strange carcass found in a sperm whale's stomach. It remains a key piece of the Caddy story.
