Several hundred Topekans had watched an airship in the western sky one Saturday night. Weeks later the paper revealed it was a government experimental kite with two lanterns hung on it, sent up by a Mr. Patten.

A cone of light that drifted around a farmhouse
Glendeane, Kentucky
On a dark, misty night a cone-shaped light as big as a corn shock moved like a skiff on waves from a vacant cabin to a neighbour's house, hung there fifteen minutes, came closer and seemed to have something dark like a person inside.
