Sheepsquatch

Also called Sheep Squatch, Boone County white beast, Kanawha Valley white thing

A woolly white, horned beast reported in West Virginia hollows in the 1990s.

Sheepsquatch is a West Virginia cryptid described as a bear-sized animal covered in long, shaggy white wool, with a sheep- or goat-like head, horns, and the ability to walk on four legs or stand upright. Witnesses also mention a sulfur smell and a scream like a woman.

Mountain folklore had stories of a 'White Thing' long before the name existed, including one in a 1965 collection about a woman who met a white beast riding home from church. A run of sightings in the mid-1990s, many around the Kanawha Valley near Cross Lanes, gave the creature its modern nickname.
