Flathead Lake Monster

Also called Flessie

Montana's eel-like lake creature, seen by over 100 people since 1889.

Flathead Lake is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi by surface area. In 1889 passengers on the steamboat U.S. Grant reported a whale-like animal, and more than 100 sightings have followed.

Most describe a dark, eel-like creature 20 to 40 ft long. Some suspect a giant sturgeon; a 7-ft white sturgeon was caught in the lake in 1955.
