Batsquatch

Also called Bat Squatch, Winged Bigfoot, Mount St. Helens Batsquatch, Flying Bigfoot

A purple-blue, bat-winged ape that landed in front of a stalled truck.

Batsquatch is a hairy, ape-like creature with huge leathery wings, reported in the Washington Cascades. The story starts in April 1994, when 18-year-old Brian Canfield said his truck stalled in Pierce County and a nine-foot creature with bluish fur, a wolf-like face, yellow eyes and bat wings landed on the road in front of him before flying off toward Mount Rainier.

The account ran in the Tacoma News Tribune, and the reporter said Canfield seemed sincere. A few later reports followed, including a pilot who said he saw something similar. The creature is now tied to Mount St. Helens in popular telling, though the original report was nearer Rainier.
